John Gorka

Arjen and Bin invited us to join them for the concert of John Gorka in Venlo. John Gorka is a fairly unknown Folk singer from America (youtube). I hadn’t heard of him before but Arjen and Bin have been fans for some years now. John performed solo on a small stage for about 70 people. Which gave the performance a nice and intimate ambiance.

    And the big questions is: is there a good reason why this guy is not well known in Holland, or will 2009 be his big breakthrough?

    I doubt if 2009 will be his big breakthrough, since this guy is already active as a solo performer at least 20 years (first record: 1987). And a reason why he is not famous..??? does there have to be a reason? Unfortunately the most gifted artists are often not well known, and the lesser gifted artists we hear a lot / too much of in the media.
    The most simple reason might be: his music is not meant to be popular (for the mass), but for true, honest, simple, straight to the heart-music lovers…
