The Aftermath

Today my neck was hurting quite a bit and Adrienne insisted that I should go to the doctor. Little did she know that that visit would scar me for life. One hour I had to wait in the waiting room, which in itself would not be the end of the world. But the waiting room of the doctor’s office is right next to the canteen of the elderly home. Which, even though I’m not too fond of the elderly after what happened to me yesterday, also isn’t the worst, if it wasn’t for the carnaval’s music they were playing there loudly. Well, even that one might be able to overcome. Although I really think that carnaval’s music should not be listened to by any living creature without the intake of a substantial amount of alcohol. But what really scarred me for life is a canteen of elderly people singing along to carnaval’s music! This must be what hell is like. If ever I would be 87 years old and stuck in such an elderly home, I would sneak out, take the car, ignore all traffic signs and drive into the first brightly colored object I would see!
Which again brings me back to my car. Today it was brought to the garage and they gave me a loan. A nice sporty…Fiat Panda… I think there is some curse on me with all the elderly coming after me. Now they even have me driving in a car that shouldn’t be driven by anybody below the age of 65!
Tomorrow a damage assessment will be made and I will hear if there is still some hope for my car.

Car Accident

This afternoon I wanted to visit my parents and my sister in Boxtel, but my visit got somewhat delayed by an 87 year old man in his Nissan Sunny. The old man must have overlooked the red light and crashed full speed (50 km/h) into the rear side of my car. We both spun around, but luckily we both were without any injury. The cars however look horrible and I wonder if mine will be classified as a “total-loss”. Luckily some bystanders helped us out and witnessed that I was indeed driving through a green light. The elderly man was very confused and even wanted to drive home after the accident. The police that arrived tried to talk some sense into him and later called an ambulance to take care of the man who seemed to be acting like nothing had happened.
The police wrote up the report and our cars were towed. I really hope my car can be repaired, I like it a lot and was always very careful with it. I wonder how such an 87 year old could still have a drivers license, these people should be taken off the streets. If he would have hit a fraction earlier he would have crashed into my door and the outcome could have been a lot worse.

Ski Vacation in Sölden, Austria

From the 7th until the 14th of February I went skiing with Adrienne and a group of her colleagues from Philips. As it was my first time on ski’s I took lessons for 4 days, after which I was able to at least make it down from blue and red slopes without breaking anything. I had a lot of fun, not only with skiing but also in the evenings with Adrienne’s colleagues. Have a look at the pictures!

Apple Powerrr, Self Portrait

For a contest on DPChallenge about pictures of apples, I made a self portrait picture, with all things about apples that I could come up with. I used two flashes, I put one with a blue color, on my keyboard that flashes onto the screen, and one that flashes from the (viewer’s) right side through an umbrella. I guess it won’t be a winner, but it’s a fun self portrait picture.
